Um, some kind of dance – Chennai Sangamam

Chennai Sangamam is a yearly festival that celebrates the folk traditions of Tamil Nadu. It brings to the city of Madras dance, music, drama and story telling forms from across the state, for a week of fun, laughter, entertainment and celebration. It coincides with the Pongal – the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu.
Chennai Sangamam is free for all, and is held mostly in open areas – like parks and beaches. Which adds to its charm.
This year’s Sangamam was quite the biggest so far, and in addition to performances, had food stalls (some of which recreated ancient recipes) and carnatic concerts.
