Take a look at this Epson LQ-2090 24PIN 529CPS-DOTPR WCAR ( C11C559001 ) Good stop-gap printerBy SargeI bought this printer for my company to replace a $3500 Epson DFX8000 which is now obsolete and repairing again and again was not a viable option. With that said, I searched for a more economical impact printer to do four-part invoices on continuous sheets. Later, I will go to laser style invoices. For this printer, it does exactly like it advertises and the actual appearance of my invoices has greatly improved with the 24 pin printer head instead of 9 pin. The ribbon has lasted for almost two months on a printer that does 65% of the work for a multi-state company. Once you figure out which font to use, it will double strike for better quality (slower print) or single strike for a faster print job. You have to remember to let the machine park the paper so that the paper thickness sensor resets the printer head and your paper does not jam.The really bad thing is the fact that it comes with only one tractor assembly. That means that you have to switch the tractor assembly from either the front or the rear for optimum performance. If it came with two, then I could switch paper more conveniently. However, it was well worth the money I spent until I revamp the system and get a good laser printer when business picks up. Since it is a very good printer, I will be able to postpone investing more money.See all 1 customer reviews… »» Read more about Epson LQ-2090 24PIN 529CPS-DOTPR WCAR ( C11C559001 )

Sony Bravia Z-Series KDL-46Z4100/S 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, SilverSony Bravia Z-Series KDL-46Z4100/S 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Silver Awesome! Five stars, for sure.By forhakimI had been researching TV’s for about a month or so. I knew I wanted an LCD in the 42″-50″ range, backed by a trusted brand name, with if not cutting edge technology then at least most of the latest and greatest features on current high-end models. This because a TV is something I buy and use for many years, and I don’t want my set to become obsolete two years from purchase date. So after reading many product specifications, manufacturers’ descriptions, reviews from other users and professional reviewers, and spending many hours walking through electronics stores and looking at displays, I picked the Sony Bravia KDL-46Z4100. The next closest contender was the KDL-46W4100. However, the Z series won out, although it was a couple of hundred dollars more expensive, for these reasons: – Much better looking set (I’m talking about the physical TV here) with a very slim bezel and all-black design, as opposed to the two-tone black and silver of the W.- 10 bit color processor, which gives far more on-screen colors. I didn’t think this was a big deal, until I saw a W and Z series side by side in a store, and the display happened to show a sunset. The W had distinct bands of color, while the Z had a gradual change of color.- DLNA. I don’t use this option yet, but it’s nice to know that I can if I want to. I have a PS3, which also has DLNA, and I use that to beam images/music/video from my computer to my TV. The reason I use the PS3 is because its DLNA capability is wireless, while the TV’s is not. This is an important caveat for those to whom the TV’s DLNA capability is important. There are ways to make it work wirelessly, like hooking up a bridge, but I have not tried that. However, just know that out of the box, the TV can’t do wireless DLNA.I also compared this TV with the XBR series, and found that it has almost all the features XBR has but for many hundreds of dollars less. I just didn’t see any huge benefit in going for the XBR versus this model. As for comparison with other brands: I did consider Samsung, LG, Sharp, and others, but only Samsung seemed to have products that could take on Sony’s Bravias in terms of picture quality and features. However, in my humble opinion, Samsung shot themselves in the foot by putting glossy screens on their LCD’s, thus defeating one of the primary purposes people are moving from plasma to LCD. This is something I read about and didn’t think was a huge difference until I did a side-by-side comparison in the store. The Samsung ToC models reflected the image from the TV displays across the room. The Bravias did not. I have a living room with many windows, so this instantly killed the Samsung’s chances. As for this TV: I can’t say enough good things about it. If you are a techno geek, there are enough settings and features to keep you busy playing with them and setting them for days. If you are not, and just want to take it out of the box and use it, then it works too because setup couldn’t be simpler. Just set it where you want it, hook up the power, connect your DVD/STB/receiver/box etc, and it’s good to go. You can tweak settings to your heart’s content, but don’t have to. I was amazed by the picture right out of the box. The first movie we watched was Wall-E on Blu Ray, and the picture just blew my mind. We also watched a few episodes of Lost, and there were various scenes where the picture almost looked 3-dimensional, like looking out a window. Just amazing colors. We actually paused the show a few times to admire the picture. :) Oh, and the surround sound speakers are pretty good too. I hooked up my USB flash drive directly into the TV, and played a few songs from there via the TV’s speakers, and it sounded very crisp. I’m not an audiophile, but to my ears it sounded more than satisfactory. Is the 120Hz a big deal? Here’s something anecdotal (and the sample size is only one), but for what it’s worth: I was standing in the store and looking at the display on this TV for a few minutes. Then I turned around and looked at another TV that was showing the same display but had a refresh rate of 60Hz. I instantly started getting a headache. This is not a definitive scientific test, but I thought I’d mention it.Nice little touch: the TV stand has a screw-hole in the back to fix it to the unit it is sitting on, to prevent the TV from toppling over if pulled too hard. You don’t have to use this, because the stand is sufficiently wide and deep to take the weight, but just good to have. I don’t know if all such TV’s come with stands that have this. I appreciated this because I have a 2-year old child at home. It will take two people to lift the TV and set it up, either on its stand or wall mount. The TV is light enough that I can lift it on my own, but I’d rather be cautious … » read more about Sony Bravia Z-Series KDL-46Z4100/S 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Silver

BDI Marina 8729-2, Triple Wide Enclosed Cabinet ( Gloss Black)BDI Marina 8729-2, Triple Wide Enclosed Cabinet ( Gloss Black) Very nice.By InfernalMachineThere is a big difference between TV stands and TV furniture, this is the latter. Be advised this unit is BIG and HEAVY, even with the hidden wheels its tough to move fully loaded on carpet (as expected). Ventilation is good, not great, gear still gets hot. IR not affected by the glass. All my gear fits inside with room to spare, Xbox 360, PS3, AVR (had amp and pre-pro in before, Wii, center channel, network hub and NAS, could easily fit a cable box + something else inside. Good wire management. Doors will need adjustment upon arrival as noted in the manual, not difficult at all.Fingerprint magnet! Gloss white probably not so much.I’ll assume this is just MDF with really nice glass and finish, which is too bad (unless it holds up) given the pricetag…but it was the only one that I liked the look of. I’m certain you could find something cheaper but equally nice.See all 1 customer reviews… » read more about BDI Marina 8729-2, Triple Wide Enclosed Cabinet ( Gloss Black)

Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q898 18.4-Inch Laptop (Fusion Finish in Omega Black)Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q898 18.4-Inch Laptop (Fusion Finish in Omega Black) Awesome Desktop Replacement which is almost perfectBy Michael BallackThis product deserves 4.5 stars. It is almost perfect but for the small SSD supplied.I have used laptops of various sizes, 12″ to 15″ and now 18.4″.I was looking for a laptop which had a fantastic keyboard (ala “Lenovo”) and sufficient GPU power for the latest games. Not that I’m a hardcore gamer but I was looking for a new laptop which could last longer (in terms of obsolescence) as nowadays it is the GPU rather than the CPU which determines whether or not your laptop is capable of running games.Without further ado, here’s the reasons why I bought this unit. No offence to owners of the other brands but I had to eliminate other popular choices due to the reasons below. I actually narrowed down my final choice of a new laptop to either SAGER or TOSHIBA.PROS1. KeyboardA full keyboard (backlit!) is provided along with a full numberpad. For me, the keyboard design was really important. I have used a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop before and their keyboards were (and still are) really the best for typing. Yes, even better than this unit. H/w, this Toshiba unit has the edge over Alienware and SAGER/CLEVO units where the keyboard is concerned. I actually went to a real store to check out the Alienware laptops but just did not like the feel of their keyboards. I also do not like the way SAGER/CLEVO removed some of the keys on their numberpad.BTW, the MSI GX/GT 660 series deserves honorable mention for their keyboard design. I like the look on it. H/W some reviewers have claimed that there is a certain amount of flex, hence I did not go for the MSI units.2. Battery LifeGranted, most people would not move a desktop replacement unit around much. H/w, this unit is listed as being able to last 3hr 47mins on battery power.I have tested this unit, running on battery, it lasted 1hr 35mins with maximum LCD brightness settings. I have no doubt that it could really reach 3 hrs + if I had run on the Toshiba ECO mode with a dimmer lcd setting. This was also the reason why I rejected the SAGER units as they can only last about 47mins from the online reviews I have read. ok, desktop replacement units are not meant to be moved around, but a laptop, IMHO, should be able to function normally for at least 1.5 hrs on battery and not treat the battery as a “UPS”.3. NVIDIA GTX 460MThis GPU is really fantastic!I managed to get an average framerate of 31FPS for BATMAN AA GOTY with all the graphics settings maxed out. Yes, even with 16x Anti-aliasing! ha ha :) That’s how smooth it is!And this was running under the 18.4 inch laptop screen at native 1920 x 1080 resolution!Had the new MSI gaming unit with the 460M been available at the time that I bought this Toshiba, I would not have eliminated such an option from my short-list.4. Sound systemThis unit comes with Harmon Kardon speakers.Again, SAGER was edged out on this factor.5. Build QualityFor me, aesthetics are not that important. Hence I was willing to consider either the SAGER line of laptops. This Toshiba unit is very well made. The keyboard does not have any flex. The handrest portion beneath the keyboard has a special smooth glossy feel to it, and it is akin to marble. Typing on this keyboard really makes you enjoy using the product. :) The trackpad is also very well made and responsive. The buttons are firm. The laptop itself is a work of art! The Japanese aesthetics really shows with the black laptop and red trimmings. The Trackpad and media control buttons on the left are also illuminated in red led.I read many horror stories (motherboard dying and bad servicing) about the ASUS G73 line of laptops, hence I regretfully had to eliminate that from my consideration. To be fair, the G73 series supposedly has less problems with the new 460M Nvidia GPU as compared with the ATI 5870 GPU but I just did not want to take the risk of being subjected to the horrible after-sales service of ASUS. You can google this to find out more.6. 18.4″ FHD screen Yes, this comes with a blu-ray player which works very well with the Full 1080HD screen.Given the limited space on my desk, I needed a laptop with the largest screen possible. This fit the bill exactly.7. SSD Boot DriveThe SSD boot drive really makes a difference.Imagine being able to boot up in less than 30secs.Windows 7 shutdown only takes 10s.BTW, I checked the SSD drive for SSD alignment issues, I am glad to report that the SSD drive supplied by Toshiba fresh from the factory does not have any SSD alignment issues.8. CPUThe Intel i7 740 seems to be able to handle multi-tasking very well. I can open up many other programs whilst running 64 bit Adobe CS5 Photoshop smoothly.CONS1. WeightThis laptop is not as portable as a 15.6 incher. So if portability is really required by you, I’d suggest that you look for a smaller laptop.2. SSD only 64GBYou will have to install progams into the 500GB secondary HDD.The 64GB boot drive is really only meant for that purpose. If only Toshiba used a 128GB SSD, this would have been perfect. Hence my giving the laptop 4 stars.I have no doubt that … » read more about Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q898 18.4-Inch Laptop (Fusion Finish in Omega Black)

Incipio Kickstand for Apple iPad 1 - Light Gray/Gray (IPAD-134)Incipio Kickstand for Apple iPad 1 – Light Gray/Gray (IPAD-134) Great, but not quite the product in the image.By Cd.I’m really not sure what happened here, but the item in the image is different from the product? It’s a nice case, and stands pretty well (can be a little flimsy, but overall does the trick.)So the only thing that bothers me is the frame piece around the iPad screen. In then picture, it’s perfectly rectangular and covers the black boarder of the iPad screen,BUT REALLY, its cut kinda weird. You see a little bit of the frame in more spots than others, and it has rounder corners. So if you’re expecting the ipad screen to be perfectly surrounded by the case, covering all the black (like in the image), you will be disappointed. The actually product doesn’t make anything less practical, just doesn’t look the same (or as nice in my oppinion.) Otherwise, it’s a great case for the money,I just can’t give it more than 3 stars when its not the p roduct advertised in the photo!See all 2 customer reviews… » read more about Incipio Kickstand for Apple iPad 1 – Light Gray/Gray (IPAD-134)
