Looking for some “stuff” for your pet? Pet Accessories of every type and description can be found in pet stores and/or on the internet. You can buy jewelry, coats, sweaters, hats, scarves, boots, collars, leashes, harnesses, crates, houses, enclosures, dishes, toys, blankets, car accessories, etc., etc. Some accessories are meant to enhance the pet‘s appearance; some are for the comfort of the pet, some for the protection of the pet or others, and some are just for “showing off”.

Regardless of what you are shopping for, you will find many different products from many different manufacturers that at first blush seem to be just what you are looking for. You should however, do your homework and make sure the product you are buying is in fact what you had in mind when you started looking, and is appropriate for the intended use. Make sure the product you are ordering is not made of a material that presents a hazard to your pet if ingested.

For example, if you were looking for aids to help you in your efforts to train your dog, don’t use products that “punish” the dog when they don’t respond properly, such as collars that can choke or pinch or inflict pain by electric shock. Animals can be trained without using pain as a weapon, so don’t let an over-zealous vendor convince you to use any methods that will inflict pain on your animal.

A little common sense and empathy when choosing any kind of pet accessories will go a long way toward having a happier and healthier pet.

Some other things to be aware of when choosing a vendor:

  1. Look for consumer reviews not only of the product, but particularly of the Vendor, unless it a well-known vendor that you have confidence in.
  2. Make sure they have an acceptable return policy in the event the product is not satisfactory.
  3. Make sure there is no vendor’s “restocking fee” when and if you return the product.
  4. Watch for hidden “handling” and/or “shipping” charges.

Buying Pet Supplies Online? Some Points to Consider

Ξ December 21st, 2010 | → 0 Comments | ∇ Pet Supplies |

Today more and more people are purchasing pet supplies online mainly because of the sheer convenience and competitive prices. Listed below are five things to consider when you’re thinking about purchasing your pet products via the internet.

Contact

Who are you dealing with? A good pet accessories web site should have a section such as “conditions of use” or “about us” that will state the address and contact number of the business so that you don’t have to solely deal with emails should you wish to actually speak with a person.

Testimonials

What experience have some other clients had? It’s a big comfort to know what other customers have felt in relation to their pet products. Locate a section on the web site called “testimonials” which may give you an idea of the type of organization you’re dealing with as well as the quality of their particular pet supplies.

Returns and Exchanges

You buy something for your dog that doesn’t fit when it arrives or maybe you simply do not like it – what exactly are your rights? Again there should be a section on the website called something like “returns” which lays out the stance (which should match at least your minimum rights) of the business. A good quality online retailer is aware of the importance of dealing with any concerns the purchaser may have.

Price

Online shopping is no different than on the high street where you have got to choose whether or not you would like to pay out a little extra for high quality and luxury or whether you simply want the least expensive item available. If you were hunting for a dog collar for example consider pet products websites which sell a variety that includes low cost items through to luxurious designer dog collars.

Ease of Use

How clear is the web-site? Is it easy to navigate and locate what you want? Is there a search box? Are there any highlighted items and special deals? Does it look professional? All these aspects make your whole experience while clicking through the web-site less complicated plus more enjoyable!

The volume of individuals that today use the world wide web to shop for pet products is growing each year so enjoy surfing and enjoy proudly owning a pet!
