This is the fourth episode of the ZL Studios Podcast. Isiah and I collected eight of the most important articles from the tech blogs we read. This podcast goes over the Dell Streak and how it is going strait to Android 2.2 and skipping 2.1. The iPhone 4 is used to take pictures of the moon using a telescope. A new microprocessor uses probability instead of binary logic. A new T-Mobile G2 is coming. Adobe AIR is coming to Android at the end of this year. New 1.5GHz phone processors coming. A new unlimited plan to rival Sprint’s. And Facebook Places. Isiah’s Internet connection dropped during the recording so he’s not in the entire podcast. There seems to be a whole lot of news each week and having really long podcasts is not always very good to do. I changed the schedule so that on Thursdays we upload a YouTube video. I’m thinking about maybe swapping Tuesdays with the video and then putting the lists on Thursdays. That way Isiah can do a rumor video and I can do another podcast at the beginning of the week. What do you think about this? If you like it I might change it at the end of he month. To view the full blog post go to go.zlstudios.net Music: 8bc.org Website: zlstudios.net

I switched to Mac with the advent of the Mac Mini. We’ve followed the same pattern from the beginning. We buy a desktop and then the notebook most similar in specs and performance to the desktop. After the Mac Mini, we added an iBook (currently on Ebay [1]). Before we started GeekBrief.TV, we got an iMac G5. The notebook we paired with the iMac was a MacBook. When we went pro with the podcast, we went pro with the Mac Pro. We added to that a MacBook Pro and then another. The MacBook Air [2] was the first Mac that’s come out that dosn’t fit our growth pattern. It’s the first Mac since we switched that I can easily live without, so I didn’t plan to do a review. My friend, Mark Taylor (taylormark.com [3]) bought one and dedicated it to our Big Trip fundraising effort [4], so I’ve played with it for three days, reviewed it and put it on Ebay. Most people I’m around are always looking for more power in a computer. We want fast hard drives, fast processors and fast RAM. We’ll sacrifice our desire to have a notebook that runs cool, and I’ll live with the machine being heavy. Not everyone shares the mission of a power user, and it is those people that will get the most out of a MacBook Air. It’s the ultimate writer’s computer. It’s size doesn’t compromise it’s quality. It’s solid and well balanced. It doesn’t want to fall or lean in any direction. It is perfect for online activity and really any job where the primary requirement is the production or consumption of text and …

Today Sony announced a pair of new smartphones that they are adding to their Ericsson Xperia lineup of phones. The two phones are the new Xperia Pro and Xperia Mini Pro, both are Android phones. They both have 3-inch displays, 1GHz processors, and Android 2.3 Gingerbread installed. Plus 30% battery life. So the difference between the two is the fact that the Mini Pro doesn’t have a slide out keyboard while the Pro does. Motorola also announced a couple of phones and both of them are going on Sprint’s network. The first one will be called the Motorola Droid XPRT which is basically a Droid Pro, and the Titanium which is basically a modified Droid Pro. The XPRT has a 3.1-inch display on top of a QWERTY keyboard, the Titanium is just like that. They both share a 1GHz processor too. But the XPRT has Froyo and costs $130 when it arrives on June 5th while the Titanium has Android 2.1 and will arrive later. The main difference is that the Titanium is built for more rugged conditions. Articles used: gtmurl.com Blog: zlstudios.net Twitter twitter.com

With Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4GHz, these processors allow the 13-inch MacBook Pro to perform up to twice as fast as the previous generation. But we couldn’t leave fast enough alone. The new 15- and 17-inch models bring quad-core power to almost everything you do. The available 2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor — with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.4GHz and up to 8MB of shared L3 cache — enables these MacBook Pro models to run applications up to twice as fast as their top-of-the-line predecessors. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor — now included across the MacBook Pro lineup — handles the things you do every day. It encodes video quickly, making HD video calls with FaceTime possible. And it decodes efficiently, so you get long playback time for DVDs and iTunes movies. For graphics-intensive applications, the 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro models automatically switch to new high-performance AMD Radeon graphics processors. With up to 3x the performance of the previous models, they let you see more frames per second in 3D games, or work on HD video projects with more speed and responsiveness than before. Imagine accessing multiple streams of uncompressed HD video …
