How to get Escort Passport 9500ci Custom-Installed Radar Detector Best in class radar performance, so-so laser protection, priceyBy AreYouKidding?As a car-guy, I’ve owned a ton of radar detectors. The past few years, the choices have been very limited and I’ve tried most of them. I’ve gone through a Valentine One (V1), a Escort Passport 9500i and finally the 9500ci. In terms of RADAR, all three are nearly identical in terms performance and sensitivity. Here’s a quick progressive comparison of the other features.The V1 has the arrows, which is great and all, but I didn’t really need to know where the threat is coming from. I just needed to 1) know the threat was real and 2) slow down to the posted speed limit. I replaced the V1 because it was just too noisy during my commute. A great detector, but too much chatter.I upgraded to the 9500i. It shined because of it’s built-in GPS feature. I pass by five K-based RADAR Speed Limit signs each way on my commute. With GPS marking, I could easily lock out those specific false signals. The next time I would pass by, the system would be silent. When approaching one of these “marked” locations, the GPS icon on the display would start to rotate. This was essentially the 9500i saying, “I’m picking up the radar signal, but I’m not “bleeping” because you told me this exact location is a false”. Simply awesome. The system is quiet until an unknown threat is detected. The one thing I still hated; constantly removing the unit from the windshield every time I would park downtown or in a not-so-secure location. It was a thief-magnet and I didn’t want to attract any unwanted attention. That is what finally led me to the 9500ci. I like this Klipsch Speakers RF-82II Home Theater System 5.1-Free Sub Great Speakers and ServiceBy David DunnicliffI don’t usually do these reviews but the service and speakers were so exceptional I had to write something.I received these speakers promptly after ordering – 2 days – which for the size and quantity of packages I thought was exceptional. Exceeded their estimated delivery by 3 days. No damage to the boxes or merchandise. They came from Las Vegas and I am in Southern California.My son had them put them in the garage but I expect if he had asked they would have put them in the house.Setting up was not an issue although time consuming. I used DB Link SW10G100Z 10 Gauge Speaker Wire (Blue)and 24k Gold Connector Banana Plugs, Open Screw Type 24.The sub-woofer is very, very large and the center speaker takes up some room as well. Make sure you check the dimensions of the speakers and where you plan to put them. I eventually mounted the rear speakers to the wall with Home Depot Triple Grip Cobra 172 R Anchors rated at 77 lbs – probably overkill but they are definitely sturdy. They are at about 4 feet from the ground and are slightly unsightly as the speaker wire just hangs down the wall. Could have run through the wall but I rent.Sound quality is superb. I used to own Klipsch LaScala’s so I have been sold on Klipsch ever since. I bit more bass from the sub-woofer than I need but it is adjustable. Check this Toshiba FPT-AG01U 3D Glasses, Black Relatively light and sturdy. Good with games and moviesBy lttldrgnAlthough some of the other manufacturer’s glasses appeared more stylish to me when I tried them out, these glasses seemed a lot more sturdy and comfortable. I’ve worn these three hours with little fatigue and no more annoyance than the passive glasses used at movie theaters. Image quality is great, but I suspect that also has a lot to do with the TV. A couple things to note: – glasses come with a battery – Works with both 46″ and 55″ Toshiba TVs – adjustable nose pads for better fit – fits over prescription glasses – good fit for adult (probably kids too, but haven’t had nephews over to try them out) – easy to use (read the instructions first!) – power saving feature turns glasses off momentarily when not receiving signal from TV (also for safety in case you decided to wander off with them still on your head)Notes for people new to 3D. – Image quality is highly dependent on 3D content (i.e. not all games and movies are created equally) – Brightness is reduced by active glasses so you might want to turn TV brightness up when watching 3D content – Be a little adventurous and tweak TV and/or device settings(if available) to get the best 3D picture9 of 9 people found the following review helpful. »» More Information about Toshiba FPT-AG01U 3D Glasses, Black
