Overpraised as a staple of underground hip hop, Keith’s delivery of science-sexy nonsense can be entertaining but grew stale along with the 90′s beats.
: Maybe it was that downtime at Creedmoor Mental Hospital, but after he tuned out following the breakup of the hardheaded seminal hip-hop group the Ultramagnetic MCs, something must have flipped Kool Keith’s wig like a mescaline pizza. I can think of no other way to explain the mutant birth of Dr. Octagonecologyst. Literally assuming another personality on this record, Dr. Octagon–Kool Keith on the mike, with Dan “The Automater” Nakamura producing–transmits unearthly rhymes like tractor beams to your cranium. Then he squirms around in there, grabs some Vaseline from your medicine cabinet, and does a little dance. The first time you listen to cuts like “Earth People” and “Blue Flowers,” you might have to change the way you listen to hip-hop. The standards are the same–verse, chorus, verse, with plenty of nasty skits in the middle–and there are electro-beat shades of his predecessors, such as Afrika Baambaata, but the wordplay and beat compositions are truly light years from most hip-hop. Riding between smooth hardened rods, steel balls within the slide roll parallel to the line of motion (coefficient of friction is 0.003). Album das ich je gehört habe!!
Ich kann es wirklich jedem empfehlen, der nur ansatzweise Hip-Hop hört, denn diese Album ist ein Meisterwerk das Seinesgleichen sucht. Wer dafür verantwortlich ist, sind schon in anderen Rezesionen erörtert worden. Wer dieses Album hört, wird eigentlich gezwungen es sich noch ein paar mal mehr rein zu ziehen. Es gibt so viele Highlights auf der Disc, dass man vergeblich nach Schwächen sucht. Ich habe 250 Hip-Hop Alben daheim (narürlich Orginale) und es gibt keines, dass nur im Ansatz an dieses rankommt.
Wenns jemand noch nicht hat, SOFORT zugreifen, ein voller Genuß für die Ohren!!
: Die Besatzung von Deltron 3030 besteht aus Dan The Automator aka The Cantankerous Captain Aptos, Kid Koala aka Skiznoid The Boy Wonder und Del The Funkee Homosapien aka deltron Zero. Dem kongenialen Dreigespann steht folgende Crew zur Verfügung: Sean Lennon, Prince Paul, El-P von Company Flow, Mark Bell (Björk), Damon Albarn (Blur), Brad von den Crash Test Dummies, Money Mark, Peanut Butter Wolf und noch so einiges an hochqualifiziertem Personal mehr.

Zusammen sind sie die Hauptdarsteller einer Science Fiction Rap-Oper, die im nächsten Jahrtausend spielt, in einer Zukunft, die recht ausgebombt aussieht, jedenfalls illustriert die wunderbare Covergestaltung alles andere als eine schöne neue Welt. Neun Interludes transportieren die Geschichte weiter und die zwölf Tracks sind visionär mit ihren betörenden Dope-Beats, wundersamen, futuristischen Sounds und strangen Scratch-Einlagen. Eleventh Hour definitely his worst – Michael Corcoran – Portland, OR USA
ive been a huge del fan for 10 years or so, hes probably my favorite MC but this album is just not good. the few songs that are good still arent his best and the others just arent produced well. if youre new to Del dont start here or else you might ignore his past brilliant albums

I think people reviewed this too quick. After listening to this many times since its dropped, its just as good if not better than Del’s first album. This is incredible. Smoke a beed to this, bump it load if you can. Album is really a banger if you ask me. Yeah its been 7 years but this album is much more cohesive than Both sides and really brings an album vibe like on No Need for Alarm. Love this album
: Co-honcho of the Bay Area’s legendary Hieroglyphics collective, Del the Funky Homosapien (Teren Delvon Jones) boasts a hip-hop resume of indelibly cred-soaked pedigree. But Eleventh Hour, his largely self-produced fifth solo album–and first in eight years–lacks much of both the lyrical and instrumental verve of his best records. Committed mostly to slap-schticky attack-rap targeting one unspecified “you” or another, Eleventh Hour feels more like 1994′s No Need for Alarm than Gorillaz’ “Clint Eastwood,” the iconic Deltron 3030, or he Funky Homosapien’s seminal solo debut, I Wish My Brother George Was Here. Surprising turns of phrase and the occasional flair of free association remain, but these stylistic flourishes have been done so well and so many times before, not least by Del himself, that here it drops with far more familiarity than revelation. “Bubble Pop,” “Foot Down,” and “Str8t Up and Down” bounce with undeniable charisma, but Del’s backing tracks often feel more like etudes than fully realized works. Of course, he’s always been his revelatory freest when accompanied by brilliant others (da Lench Mob, Dan the Automator, Kid Koala, Damon Albarn), so if this is the sound of Del’s Eleventh Hour, there may still be time for one more breathtaking collab. –Jason Kirk Eleventh Hour
